Professional Credentials and Background

I am a graduate of the Longy School Of Music, Boston University College of Music with a degree in piano performance. In addition, completed Masters course work at the New England and Boston Conservatories of Music. I took summer studies at the McDowell School, Tanglewood Music Center. At an early age, I was accepted as a student of Heinrich Gebhard (Dean of American Piano Teachers and official pianist of the Boston Symphony). Made my Piano debut at the age of 15 at Jordon Hall in Boston and performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra under Arthur Fiedler. I concertized throughout the New England States. In 1975, I opened my Piano Studio for seriously interested students. In addition to teaching, I also adjudicate for many musical organizations and colleges.

Theory, Approach and Teaching Style

Theory is an integral part of my instruction in the basics along with music history. I teach only original classical compositions. A first year student will be given easy Mozart and Bach pieces before the end of that year. To motivate a student, a teacher must continually challenge him or her. The famous Leschetizky Method is one of producing a beautiful singing tone through finger, wrist, and forearm only!

I am an instructor of the classics which include all four periods of music.

Highlights and Other Points of Interest

Thirty-one of my students in the past twenty eight years have gone on to study/major in Piano. Of those, eleven have become teachers or professors. My studio includes two Grand Pianos, recording equipment and a large inventory of sheet music. There are two formal recitals each year. One in the Winter and another in the Spring. Competitions in the Spring include: Federation Festival, Gold Cup Awards, and the National Guild of Piano Teachers auditions. My music library includes over 150 orchestral arrangements written for 2 pianos-8 hands. Students showing interest and proficiency are invited to participate when openings occur. Presently, there are four active quartets.
