Stephanie Quinn
Piano Teacher Wilmette, Illinois
Ms. Quinn has been teaching over 30 years, all ages. If you'd like a clear idea what a beginner student may expect after various lengths of study, see the "Student Progress Videos" in her website link below. Her music education began with William Browning, pianist, Carl Freidberg’s premiere student, who was a pupil of Clara Schumann and Brahms. His colleague, violin teacher George Perlman, was Ms. Quinn’s first major violin teacher. Stephanie spent most of her childhood in a practice room, and at 17, was awarded the Merit Scholarship to Eastman School of Music, accepted as both a piano and violin major. Following Eastman, she studied with Felix Galimir of the Juilliard School and Gerardo Ribeiro of Northwestern University, as well as master classes with Itzhak Perlman, Arnold Steinhardt, Malcolm Frager and others. Ms. Quinn has recorded and interviewed in New York on WBAI radio. Testimonials from her students include:

“We've been with Ms. Quinn since we moved to Wilmette 5 years ago. She is a serious musician whose classical training is impressive - that was evident from the start. What I have come to respect greatly is what a compassionate and versatile teacher she is. My daughter is a very different piano student than I was, but Stephanie really seems to understand her needs too. Ms. Quinn gives students an excellent grounding in the classics while also being able to understand that the point of making music is in keeping it fun.” Cathy G., Wilmette, Ill

“In the past one and half year, Sara not only improved her skills but also changed her attitude. She starts to love the music and can practice by herself. In the past, we have to push her really hard and have to stay with her with her practice. We are all very happy about that. Thanks!” Ping Lui Glenview, Illinois

“As a senior, after many years of not playing the piano, I became interested in developing my latent skills. Stephanie encouraged me to develop, practice, and grow in music appreciation. Stephanie is kind, patient, organized, and very pleasant to work with. After many years of growth, I can highly recommend her teaching abilities.” Marilyn Friedman Northbrook, Illinois

“Stephanie Quinn is a wonderful music teacher. She is a consummate professional in her field who has both the talent and credentials to back up her amazing performance history. As an adult beginner of an instrument and a resident of Chicago, Illinois, I was fortunate to have the experience of some private instruction with Ms. Quinn. She has the ability to relate to both the adult and the child in their quest of learning to play music, taking the knowledge and experience earned from some of the most distinguished music institution curricula in the nation, and distilling it into the vernacular to teach those around her. All this she does with grace and with a unique quirky sense of humor. Bravo for Ms. Quinn!” Erik Leon, RPh, Chicago, Il.
