Ben Hanson graduated with honors from The College of St. Scholastica with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Vocal Music Education. As a licensed K-12 teacher in Minnesota, he works with students from elementary to high school. His teaching philosophy is to foster all students to have a lifelong understanding and appreciation of music while creating superior performance and musical excellence.
Under his direction, his choirs have received Superior ratings from MSHSL contests over the past few years. Most recently, he was the Vocal and Classroom Music teacher at Moose Lake Community Schools where he conducted Concert Choir, Bella Voce and Vocal Jazz choirs. He also taught General Music to grades 2-6. Prior to coming to Moose Lake, he has taught in the Duluth Public Schools as a Vocal and Classroom Music teacher. During his tenure, he has created and developed a music program at the Area Learning Center, creating a curriculum for the entire district as well as served on various committees and served as student council adviser.
He also has taught in his own music studio both piano and voice lessons to students of all ages. Students have received Superior ratings in local DMTA festivals. He is also very involved in musical theater as both director and actor. His previous shows include Singin’ in the Rain, A Chorus Line, Godspell, Little Shop of Horrors, and he played Edgar Beane in Titanic the Musical in the Fitger's Spirit of the North Theater. Mr. Hanson is also involved as a church musician, playing piano, keyboard and singing at various churches in Duluth. He has been a choral clinician for elementary music festivals and judged the Proctor Sings! event the past 2 years.
He recently received his certification as a Google Certified Teacher. Mr. Hanson’s Professional Memberships include MMEA, NAfME, ACDA and Chorus America.
