Holds a Master’s degree in Music. More than 35 years of professional experience in pedagogy at all levels. A professional composer and pianist. Genres include symphonic, instrumental, chamber music, music for voice and solo instruments, children’s music, and theatrical music. Films with Nemirovsky’s music were presented at many international film festivals.

My teaching method differs radically from music lessons given at public schools. It is traditional and similar to the method used in the previous musical period in Europe where the traditions of classical music were established. One of the clearest distinguishing features of my teaching method is individual work with a specific student rather than a group of students. It is this individual approach to the unique character of a given student that constitutes the very crux of my methodology. In my opinion, only by using this method is it possible to open up the world of the highly intellectual art of classical music for students.

The techniques I use for teaching adult students consist of the following:

A patient and considerate approach to the individual characteristics and age of the student.

The search for a special technique for each individual student.

A selection of a repertoire reflecting the musical interest of the specific student including a broad selection of musical styles: classical, popular, jazz, etc.

As necessary, the technical performance of each musical composition can be specially simplified by professional musicians giving a beginning student the ability to perform any popular classical piece or modern song as he or she wishes.

“Easy to understand” method for learning Theory of music, Music Composition, Orchestration techniques, Film Score creating, Jazz Harmony progressions and improvisation.

We all have a little dream, but we always put it off to the distant future. We're just too busy! Life is slipping by in of pursuit of money. There is no room even for this little dream. I am telling you that there is room for this dream. Do something about it now, today!

Testimonial:  This letter serves as my strong recommendation for Edward Nemirovsky whom I have had the pleasure of studying piano with since May 2012. I first met Edward during my search for a piano teacher who could assist with me working through some technical inconsistencies and weaknesses that I believed were holding me back from taking a graduate level piano accompaniment class at Westminster Choir College that I wanted to pursue in the fall of 2012. From our first lesson, and in each and every subsequent lesson, Edward was masterful in balancing the technical work required with the artistic aspirations of an adult student who needed to make up lost ground in order to participate in a class comprised of graduate piano performance and piano accompaniment majors. As the only non-piano major in the class at Westminster, it was remarkable to see how my private work with Edward each week produced tangible results. He not only kept me afloat and inspired me to not give up by working toward manageable ends to overcome technical deficiencies, but I also managed to come out of the class with an A. While I understand that I put in the work, I can say without any reservation whatsoever, that I could not have done so without Edwards tireless help. Edwards command of piano skills, his penetrating insight, his deep knowledge and his ability to motivate his students is what sets him apart from other piano teachers that I have had previously. Thanks to Edward, I feel like a true artist albeit one who still needs much development and practice. With Edwards help, I am confident that I will continue to refine my technical skills and deepen my sensitivity and emotional response to any music put before me. Edward is an exemplary teacher so it is without reservation that I recommend him to any student looking to discover the exuberance and joy of playing the piano. Testimonial:  .Edward is a truly inspirational, passionate teacher. I only wish I had the fortune of meeting a teacher like him when I took piano lessons the first time around- almost 10 years ago- then I would have never quit playing. When I moved to the city after college, my interest in the piano was rekindled and I searched around for a teacher. After a short stint with a woman whose lessons felt boring and unstructured, I stumbled across Edward's website and called him to schedule a lesson that same day. The first lesson was so exhilarating and effective that I decided Edward was absolutely it, even if it meant going to a different borough for lessons each week. Edward has been very accommodative of my work schedule and occasional last minute change of plans- not something you can say about every piano teacher. He teaches me a mix of classical fundamentals through scales and the likes of Beethoven, Bach, and Mozart, as well as some jazz principles such as chord progressions and improvisation. The pace of the class is fast enough to keep me challenged and interested, but Edward is also insistent that I play the same pieces to my maximum potential before allowing me to move on. Learning how to play as a 23-year-old almost from scratch definitely has its frustrating moments, especially since my work hours prevent me from practicing as much as I would like to. However, Edward's passion, teaching techniques and mastery of the instrument have encouraged me to stay motivated and engaged. After 6 months of lessons, I can truly see a difference in my playing ability as well as my understanding of music theory. Whether you are a busy professional considering picking up the piano again or thinking of introducing your child to the instrument for the first time, Edward is definitely one of the best teachers out there. I plan on taking lessons with him for as long as I live in the area. Robin, Investment Banker, Student since June 2011

Title:  Well-known modern composer. Contemporary Music Festival's founder and artistic director
Testimonial:  Having known Edward Nemirovsky for more than twenty years and I'm more than glad to write on his behalf and recommend Edward highly both as a composer and as a music teacher. First of all I would like to say that I genuinely love Edward’s music. Among his many wonderful works, I would single out his String Quartet, Humoresque for viola and piano and Chamber Symphony as being truly exceptional. Edward Nemirovsky has created a musical language that is exciting and profound while remaining personal and expressive. The finesse and the intelligence found in Edward Nemirovsky’s music extend to his pedagogy. As a teacher, Edward Nemirovsky attempts to find a distinct way of approaching each individual student. Edward does this in order to help students discover and cultivate their individual strengths. This approach guarantees the best results regardless of the student’s background. At the core of Mr. Nemirovsky’s approach to teaching is a belief that there is no such thing as failure; every attempt at musical expression can be a learning experience. With Edward Nemirosky as their teacher, all students are guaranteed to have a happy, informative, and productive journey through the world of music. I highly recomend him and without any reservations. Dmitri Yanov – Yanovsky.

Testimonial:  We recommend Edward as an outstanding piano teacher for children or adults. Edward taught piano to our son, Jacob, beginning at 7 years old until we moved. Edward has a great presence and approach and Jacob looked forward to his lessons. We know that Edward is attuned to the needs of children as students with sensitivity to their energy level and attention span. At the same time, his approach is rigorous and really provided Jacob with a solid foundation for a lifetime of piano. Veronica and Jon Lurvey.

Title:  Professional Copywriter, Amateur Piano Player.
Testimonial:  I first studied piano for 5 years as a child, quitting at the age of 14. I spent my adult years regretting that dumb decision. And then I found a flyer from Edward Nemirovsky in my Queens Apartment lobby, offering free initial lessons to interested wannabe pianists at any level. My goal was to be able once again just to sit at a keyboard and be able to read the notes of Jazz and Pop standards. With Edward's unique skills and innovative methodology, I've far exceeded my expectations. He's taken be well beyond simply playing the correct notes to discovering the essence of the music that we interpret together. He's helped me understand the similarities between the jazz that I've loved all my adult life and the classical repertoire he's introduced me to. Edward's approach is to put practice before theory; he had me playing better than I ever thought I could during the very first lesson I had with him. The more I play in practice, ironically, the more I actually learn in theory! And I love the fact that none of the many questions I ask him are ignored; he always finds a way to use my curiosity as motivation to improve. Thanks to Edward Nemirovsky, I'm one old dog who continues to learn new musical tricks! Mack Lena.

Testimonial:  Edward is a real teacher. I came to Edward with some prior background in music, but not in piano. He has been very thoughtful about finding just the right kinds of repertoire for me to work on, appropriate exercises for development of good piano technique and necessary understanding of theory. He’s particularly good at perceiving my specific obstacles to improvement, and then coming up with a tailored approach to get me past them. As I have improved, he has continually adapted his teaching style to make sure I am getting the most out of my actual lessons as well as my practice time outside of lessons. In short, I feel very lucky to have had the privilege of being Edward’s student over the past few years. He is a dedicated teacher who combines a highly tailored teaching philosophy with an affable personality to deliver conservatory quality instruction. - Morgan, student since 2007
