Have you always wanted to learn to play, but never did as a kid? Do you think that you don’t have the time to sit down and learn a few simple fundamental steps so you can pick up a favorite contemporary jazz or popular piano book and play a few songs? If you’re already searching websites you’re halfway toward your first goal!

At Melodic Piano Studios we offer a relaxed but fun environment to learn at your own pace. Our approach is simple: keep it fun, set an achievable goal and get the fundamentals down without boredom. It’s not just about sitting down at a piano and a teacher standing over your head telling you what to do. That’s the old school way…there’s a new approach to learning…

Jennifer has been teaching piano lessons for over 10 years, ranging from young children to grandmothers. She began her musical practice at the age of five, and continued to pursue classical training in Manitoba through the Royal Conservatory of Music. During her advanced years of study she practiced under the talented mentorship of Heather Laliberte and Remi Bouchard. In high school she opened her first studio and began her career teaching piano and theory to beginners and advanced students, preparing them for RCM examinations, festival competitions and recitals. Several of her students won trophies and achievement awards in the Pembina Valley Region. From there she moved to Toronto where she taught privately and with music programs in various GTA locations.

Jennifer has a unique approach to making music fun for every beginner. She incorporates the fundamentals of theory, ear and sight training but through ‘musical games’ appropriate to age. This has proven very successful with all her beginner students, especially the children. With a diverse background in theatre, writing and composing, she approaches piano and music lessons from more than one angle. Depending on what the student is after - traditional, classical or a combination of several styles - Jennifer tailors the lessons based on the individual needs and goals of the student.

A patient and creative teacher, Jennifer has watched many of her students succeed and go on to receive piano awards and honor’s standing through completion of RCM examinations in both theory and practical. Most importantly, she has helped shy students get over stage fright during first performances and go on to play in recitals with years of success. Jennifer believes that the journey of learning is just as rewarding as the final accomplishment and continually encourages her students with positive re-enforcement along the way.

She looks forward to meeting with you.
