Piano Teacher Willow Grove, Pennsylvania
I teach about 35 students in a friendly home-based studio in Willow Grove, Pa. I have been a piano teacher since 1993. I specialize in teaching classical piano lessons, with an emphasis on reading music easily, knowing chords and music theory, and learning to play piano beautifully with great technique.

My goal is for you to play pieces you like with enjoyment, ease and confidence, beginning with your first lesson, and to avoid common technical problems that anyone without an experienced, knowledgeable teacher would make.

I want to introduce you to great music, to enjoy lessons and to love learning piano. I want you to be motivated to practice and to make music an important part of your life.

At Hands Together Piano Studio, school-age students may attend informal performance classes which offer an opportunity to play for other students in a relaxed environment. In June there is a large family recital where family and friends are invited. For students who are shy about performing, however, recitals are not required.

About 30% of students here are adults. Most came as total beginners. Some have taken lessons as children.

Anyone who is interested in lessons can come to Hands Together Piano Studio for a free 30-minute informational session. You can meet the teacher, see the materials, listen to the songs and get answers to any questions you may have.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Pittsburgh and took graduate courses in music at Temple University. I have studied piano with many fine teachers and continue to take lessons myself to this day. I also participate in educational activities through the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and other teacher groups.

I received permanent certification through the MTNA in 2005 and was president of my local chapter for four years. Piano is the joy of my life. I feel fortunate to be able to teach piano and to pass on the gift of music to my students.

Testimonials

Name:  Lilianne Ager
Title:  Adult Piano Student
Testimonial:  I began taking lessons from Cheryl six years ago after I retired, and I am so glad I did. Learning the piano requires patience, repetition and practice. It also requires a teacher who is patient, caring and understands the process of learning to play, plus the myriad of things required like concentration, proper fingering, counting and reading music. Cheryl has provided me with all the things to make my learning possible. I can now play many different pieces of music from classical to modern, making my journey to learn piano enjoyable.

Name:  Vanessa Wilkinson
Title:  A new self confidence
Testimonial:  My son has been with Cheryl for over two years and watching him progress is really amazing. He is reading music, creating his own work and showing a new self confidence that is wonderful. Cheryl is patient, yet doesn't let my son settle for not doing his best, which is very important. You feel that with every lesson comes new knowledge, which is great. I love that she instills in her students that music isn't easy - you must work hard. However, the rewards are well worth it.
