Meredith Ridgway attended Baylor University from 2001 through 2008 and graduated with a Master of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance. As an undergraduate and graduate student, Meredith studied piano privately with Professor Jane Abbott-Kirk. Meredith was inducted into Pi Kappa Lambda, a national music honor society celebrating performance and academic achievement. Meredith also attended the Bosendorfer International Piano Academy in 2001, studying under Professor Krassimira Jordan and Dr. Carol Leone. In 2002, Meredith was invited back to Austria to attend the Vienna Music Seminar, continuing her studies with Krassimira Jordan.
As a student of Professor Jane Abbott-Kirk, Meredith extensively studied the Taubman Technique as a means of attaining a healthy piano technique. To further her knowledge of the Taubman Technique, she attended the Golandsky Institute at Princeton University multiple times, studying with Mary Moran. At Baylor, Meredith studied Piano Pedagogy with Dr. Ann Gipson and Dr. Lesley Sisterhen McAllister. As a pedagogy student, Meredith gained teaching experience working in Baylor University's Piano Laboratory Program and as an independent piano instructor. As a graduate student, Meredith taught Beginning Class Piano and collegiate private piano lessons.
As a private instructor, Meredith emphasizes a positive attitude in lessons, a love of music and an appreciation of multiple stylistic periods. Meredith enjoys teaching pianists of all ages with artistic performance or competition aspirations. In 2008, Meredith joined the music department at the University of the Incarnate Word and is currently a Senior Lecturer teaching Private Piano and Class Piano. Meredith is an active pianist and lecturer and continues her pursuit of performance and pedagogical excellence through post-graduate piano study with Dr. Carolyn True and vocal training with Professor Deborah Bussineau-King.
