I have been teaching piano privately in River Edge for the past 28 years. Prior to that, I taught in New York City, where I lived before moving to New Jersey.
I was trained by several pianists who taught and performed on the piano, as well as by several Juilliard piano teachers. I spent some time studying at the Manhattan School of Music.
Over the years, besides teaching piano, I have been performing and composing.
I am a classical musician, who also has taught people music in other genres, such as jazz, Broadway, jazz standards, rock and music by video composers. However, my strongest interest and involvement is with classical music, which is the genre in which I compose.
The ages of my students has ranged from 3 yrs. old through about 88 years old. I've taught beginners through advanced students. Some of my students have gone on to major in music/performance in college and develop careers of their own in music.
I am sensitive to the learning needs of each student and adapt my style of teaching to what works best for each person. Still, the basic foundation of scales, theory, ear training and performance are all part of the lesson.
It has been told to me that my deep love for music is easily picked up by my students and contributes to their enjoyment of the lessons and learning.
Both parents and students look forward to the annual recital.
