Pianist Lisa Wold studied piano privately and audited a class taught by Aram Khachaturian at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Music while living in Moscow after graduating from Washington Lee High School in Arlington Virginia. She was accepted into the Gnessin School of Music to study piano, but unfortunate circumstances led her to decline the offer. After leaving Moscow she attended North Dakota State University and studied with Dr. Robert Groves to receive her Bachelor of Music in piano performance. She later studied with Dr. Duncan McNab at the University of Minnesota, earning her Masters of Music in piano performance.
For thirty nine years Lisa has taught piano, flute, and guitar. The many locations include her own Classic Studio of Music in various cities and states; Schmitt Music in Fargo, North Dakota; Eckroth Music in Bismarck, North Dakota; Mehus Conservatory in Bismarck, North Dakota; Conservatory of Central Illinois in Champaign Urbana; Our Savior Lutheran School in Arlington, Virginia; and taught pre school music at Walker Chapel in Arlington, Virginia.
She was the Music Director at Community United Methodist Church in Arlington, Virginia; Choir Accompanist for Cherrydale Baptist in Arlington, Virginia; and Pianist at Downtown Baptist Church in Alexandria, Virginia;
Performing opportunities for Lisa include weddings, funerals, recitals, and church services. While living in Bismarck, North Dakota, she played flute with the Bismarck Mandan Symphony Orchestra. She played at the Kennedy Center and the White House when she was a part of the Columbia Flute Choir.
Lisa’s three children are all grown up pursuing their passions. Ozzie is working on his doctorate in piano performance. Bjorn finished college and is working as a Statistician/Analyst. Sophie finished her Art degree a while back and is starting a degree in nutrition.
In her spare time Lisa practices piano.
